Attorney General Refers Rape Sentence to Court of Appeal- 08/01

Following my request on behalf of a constituent who was a victim of a violent rape, the Attorney General has agreed that the six year sentence given to the perpetrator should be referred to the Court of Appeal to review whether it was an unduly lenient sentence. I am confident that the court will look at this seriously and I hope they will  impose an increased sentence. It is crucial that the courts punish those convicted of violent rape with severe sentences and essential they listen to victims who feel justice has not been done.
