Save the South London Line Campaign
Save the South London Line CampaignOn Friday 26th June I joined Tessa Jowell MP, Val Shawcross AM and other local campaigners outside Denmark Hill Rail Station to campaign against the proposed cut to the South London Line. The South London Line currently runs every half hour between Victoria and London Bridge via Battersea Park, Wandsworth Road, Clapham High Street, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Queens Rd Peckham and South Bermondsey. It has recently been announced that Transport for London plan to withdraw the service completely. There is a lot of concern about this proposal and I have been contacted by many of my constituents who, like...

Southwark PCT recently consulted on the plans which showed cubicles dotted around the emergency department and no separate and secure space as agreed. I campaigned with Southwark Mind and South London MPs Tessa Jowell MP and Kate Hoey MP asking Southwark PCT reconsider these plans. On 17th June...

Celebrating Sacred Heart School's 50th Anniversary
Celebrating Sacred Heart School's 50th AnniversaryThe most important thing for parents in this area is for their children to do well in school. I was proud to visit the head, teachers and pupils at Sacred Heart School today to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I met with a group of year 9 pupils to congratulate them on their hard work and the school's excellent results. The Government is strongly committed to secondary education. Since 1997 the Government has more than doubled the investment in education in Southwark from 115 million in 1998 to 242 million in 2008. I am delighted that the GCSE results for Camberwell...
