As well as being the Member of Parliament for Camberwell and Peckham I have been appointed by our Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, to serve as the Leader of the House of Commons, Minister for Women and Equality and Lord Privy Seal. I am really pleased to be taking on these roles and working in Government to continue to fight for equality and fairness.

I will do everything I can to protect the rights of Back Benchers to hold the Government to account, to ensure proper and timely scrutiny of legislation, and to enable the House to hold the most open, effective and best informed democratic debates in the world.
