Tate Liverpool visit and roundtable – 08/09/14

Liverpool can provide the “blueprint” for how the whole country ensures arts and culture are there for every child from every walk of life.  Today, I visited the Tate Liverpool along with Labour colleagues Luciana Berger MP, Maria Eagle MP, Louise Ellman MP, Alison McGovern MP and Steve Rotheram MP.  We saw their world class exhibitions of Mondrian and Indian artist Nasreen Mohamedi, which have attracted many visitors to the city.

I heard thought-provoking views from representatives of a range of arts and culture organisations, including the large, internationally renowned and the smaller, local organisations which make up the thriving cultural landscape of the city.

Young ambassadors from “Flux” spoke passionately about their work promoting the arts to young people.  Liverpool City Council is working hard to make sure that young people benefit from the arts, and the arts are at the heart of its regeneration and the well-being of the community.
