Comments are allowed on Harriet's Blog. So what is your policy on moderation?

It is important that everyone is allowed to express their opinion. However, there will always be users who decide to post inappropriate material and hence the site is moderated. Inappropriate comment will be removed. If you think a comment is unsuitable, click the 'report inappropriate comment' link underneath it, and Harriet's website team will look into the matter.

The first time that you post a comment on the site, it will be held in a queue for moderation. Once a person's comment has been moderated once, s/he will be allowed to post comments from then on, although Harriet's website team will still check all comments carefully and may remove comments.


What constitutes inappropriate material?

  • Illegal, sexist, obscene, threatening, or offensive material
  • Comments are libelous or defamatory
  • Material copied and pasted from a discussion elsewhere
  • Multiple postings of the same issue
  • Ads of commercial products
  • Copyrighted material
  • Comments that look like they come from someone else

Anything of this nature posted on the site will be removed by moderators, and repeat offenders will be barred from the site.


Who writes the content on Harriet's website and blog?


All blog posts on http://blog.harrietharman.org/ are written by Harriet herself. Content on http://www.harrietharman.org/ is the responsibility of Harriet's contributing editors:

How much money did Harriet spend developing her website and blog?

The website and blog were developed by Jon Worth and Helena Markstedt, both Labour Party members resident in Harriet's Camberwell & Peckham constituency. Neither has received any payment for the work that they done to develop the website.

Open source software has been used to keep costs down. The main website is powered by the Typo3 Content Management System, and the blog is powered by Wordpress.

The only financial outlay has been for website hosting - Host Standard from Adept Hosting.
