Visiting Amber Valley

Yesterday I met parents, children, staff and elderly residents on a visit to Langley Mill with Amber Valley MP Judy Mallaber. Labour county councillor Bob Janes and borough council Labour candidates Celia Cox and Alan Longdon also showed me around the children’s centre-
one of six in Amber Valley run by Labour-controlled Derbyshire County Council.  Langley Mill Sure Start is a first-class children’s centre serving the heart of the community.

The Tories plan to cut £200 million each year from the Sure Start budget which would force one in
five children’s centres to close. Labour remains committed to Sure Start which, as I saw today, delivers a fantastic service to all groups in the community.
