A Gift from Tony Banks for Harriet

13/06/07

A gift from Tony Banks for Harriet. Sally Banks (Lady Stratford) the widow of Tony Banks, the former MP for West Ham, hands over a gift from Tony’s collection of political art and memorabilia. The porcelain suffragettes’ bell carries the legend ‘Votes for Women’.

Sally Banks said:

“I know Tony would want you to have this as a mark of his support for your election as Deputy Leader. There’s no doubt he would have been campaigning hard to persuade the party that it needed a woman in the leadership team and that you are the right person for the job.”
