17/04/08

Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman on Monday afternoon visited The Radclyffe School, Hunt Lane, Chadderton, Oldham.

CHADDERTON'S state-of the-art The Radclyffe School opened in February and is a specialist technology college for 1,500 pupils, aged 11 to 16-years-old.

Each faculty is equipped with a minimum of three IT studios and the school has three sports halls; including a 60m indoor running track. Other facilities include: a dance studio, school hall theatre and a 400m outdoor floodlit running track.

The old school was split between two sites with the 'upper' and 'lower' building about 1 ½ miles apart from each other.

The school is one of two PFI initiatives in the Oldham area; a further £30m has been spent on the new Failsworth School, a Specialist Sports College
