Meeting Australian Voters at Australia House 18th August 2010

The Australian people play an important part in life in London and the country. Yesterday I met students, teachers and Australians from all walks of live here in the UK as they were queuing to vote in the Australian election.  The 200,000 Australians who live in London are eligible to vote at Australia House before 10 pm on Friday 20th August.

The election is very close and it was interesting to hear about the issues that were important to the voters, such as jobs, childcare, parental leave and of course the economy.  Votes in London could make the decisive difference in a close election.

It will put a spring in the steps of not only Australian women but women all around the world if Julia Gillard were to win the election.
