Today I attended a roundtable to discuss jobs and growth in the creative industries alongside Rachel Reeves, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury and Councillor Adam Ogilvie, Executive Member for Leisure on Leeds City Council. The event was organised and Chaired by Cluny Macpherson, Regional Director of the Arts Council England and attended by Mark Skipper, Chief Executive of the Northern Ballet; Lesley Jackson, Executive Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre; Alan Lane, Artistic Director of the Slung Low Theatre; Nima Poovya-Smith, Director of Alchemy; Kerry Harker, Director of Project Space Leeds; Chris Lloyd, Producer of the Red Ladder Theatre Company; Keranjeet Kaur Virdee, Chief Executive of South Asian Arts UK; Anthony Haddon, from the theatre company Blah Blah Blah; Sheena Wrigley from the West Yorkshire Playhouse; Wieke Eringa from Yorkshire Dance; and Richard Mantle, General Director from Opera North.
