Roundtable with older women shopworkers – 12/2/2014

USDAW roundtable

Older women are vital to the workforce and to their families.  That was the message from the roundtable with shop workers I attended today, organised by USDAW.  The women shared their experiences of shift work organised around family caring but under threat from young managers seeking to reduce and change hours.  Despite being better with customers, more productive, more experienced and more committed, managers are often making assumptions about our older women workers.
