Harriet meets with users of Southwark Pensioners Centre

On Friday 30th November 2007 Harriet Harman MP, Minister of State for Equality and Member of Parliament for Camberwell and Peckham will meet with Southwark Pensioners Action Group (SPAG) to discuss the state pension, local services and the Southwark Pensioners Centre.

Harriet, Vice President of SPAG, has been working with Tessa Jowell MP, local councillors, the Pensioners Centre’s management and users of the centre to fight to save it from potential closure following a rent increase. Harriet has called on the landlord to review the amount of the rent increase and is insisting that the London Borough of Southwark Council ensures the centre stays open.

"I am strongly opposed to the closure of The Pensioners Centre and will fight along side the centre users to keep it open.”
