Pendle campaigning & What Older Women want lunch - 20/05/2014

Pendle

Azhar Ali, PPC for Pendle and Yvonne Tennant local candidate for Marsden and I joined local Labour members in Marsden Ward to campaign ahead of the local and European elections on Thursday. We were also joined by Julie Cooper PPC for Burnley. It was a great morning and we got speak to lots of residents about the issues that are affecting them in their local area.

At lunch, 20 women came together at a local Arts Cafe in Colne to participate in a ‘What Older Women Want’ lunch event.  We had a great discussion, sharing good and bad experiences of being older women in the workplace, the responsibility and strains of caring for older relatives as well as coping with the current cost of living crisis. It was great to have Yvonne and Julie taking part too – plenty to talk about!
