Southwark at 50 celebration

The Worshipful Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Dora Dixon-Fyle hosted a civic celebration to mark the Golden Jubilee of Southwark Council at Southwark Cathedral today.

I was delighted to introduce the segment entitled 'Southwark Reflections' in which I and others spoke at about what Southwark means to me.

Throughout the celebration there was ceremonial and concert music from the combined bands of The Army Medical Services and 150 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps and wonderful choral and concert music by The Military Wives Choir (South London). A special performance by Kinetica Bloco, a performance group with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dynamic dancers, was also a highlight of the day.

The celebration also incorporated the installation of Honorary Alderman and Honorary Alderwomen.
