Today I joined the LGA Labour Group at their first Councillors’ Forum following the 2014 Elections. Over 40 Council Leaders and Labour Group Leaders attended the meeting from around the country to discuss policy and the 2014 elections. We also joined to congratulate Cllr Jim McMahon, who has been elected unopposed as Leader of the LGA Labour group. The position was vacant following Cllr Dave Sparks nomination by the LGA Labour group as Chair of the Local Government Association after last week’s local election results made the Labour Party the largest group within the Local Government Association.
