Giving evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee

Today I gave evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee as part of their short inquiry into the regulation of the press. I said that politicians have now set up the framework for a new system of independent press self-regulation, that the status quo is not an option and that I hope newspapers will enter the new system. I also said I hope the Recognition Panel, the part of the new system to be incorporated by Royal Charter, would be set up as soon as possible.
