Harriet Harman raises local residents concerns with Prime Minist

At Prime Minister's Questions Harriet Harman MP for Camberwell and Peckham and Leader of the Opposition challenged the Prime Minister on CCTV cameras. She raised the concerns of the Poets Corner TRA who Ms Harman visited last Friday. Theresa Adetona, the Chair of the TRA, is calling for CCTV to be installed on her estate. The residents have told Ms Harman they will feel safer. Harriet Harman has written to Southwark Council on behalf of the residents and raised the issue of CCTV cameras with the Prime Minister today. At PMQs she highlighted the important role they have in tackling anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in the local area.

Ms Harman today:

"..can I tell him what Theresa was saying to me on Friday, not the Homes Secretary, but Theresa from the Poets Corner Estate in my constituency because they, actually that's the one that knows about living on an Estate that needs CCTV [laughing cheering] and let me tell him they do not want to be told by this government that it's going to be made harder to get the CCTV they need on their Estate.  Can I Press him on this, this about people feeling and being safe in their communities.  Will he guarantee that he will not do anything to make it harder to get or to use CCTV?"
