Harriet Harman, Labour's Shadow Secretary of State for International Development said:
"I welcome the aid that the UK is providing to the humanitarian agencies that are working so hard to help the people in Tripoli in incredibly difficult circumstances. Organisations like the ICRC are doing a remarkable job and I pay tribute to them.
"The government must also ensure that other members of the international community play their part.
"Beyond the immediate humanitarian need, the international community must also be ready to help the Libyan people rebuild their country through providing the expertise and technical assistance that will be needed to ensure essential services such as education, healthcare, and transport infrastructure are available to all.'
