Harriet Harman opens Pathways to Work office

21/07/08

Harriet Harman, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, officially launched WorkDirections’ Pathways to Work programme for Lambeth, Southwark & Wandsworth on Friday, 18 July.

Pathways to Work is a key element of the Government’s agenda for increasing employment rates for people on Incapacity Benefits across the UK, and WorkDirections’ unique programme model delivers a range of employment and health management services that combine to provide each client with a personalised route to sustainable employment.

Since commencing operations in the area in December 2007, the Pathways to Work programme has already assisted 1,161 people into work. Throughout 2008 they will support around 3,426 clients to move from Incapacity Benefits into work and over the course of the three-year Pathways to Work contract they expect this figure to increase to 13,400.
