On Friday 30th January I met with members of Help the Aged Southwark. I received a petition signed by over 1000 local people calling for the end of age discrimination.

They raised various concerns including the problem elderly people have in getting travel insurance and paying for classes in further education.

I told them about the new Equality Bill which, as the Minister for Women and Equality, I will be bringing forward in the spring. The Bill will outlaw distriminiation on the grounds of age.
