This evening the Labour Party held an Eid reception to celebrate this occasion with people from across the country. Over 300 people attended the event including community leaders and members of the business community, representatives from a number of Islamic charities, as well as Labour MPs, Parliamentary candidates and Councillors. I paid tribute to the contribution played by Muslims in the UK to our communities, our economy and our way of life. The event was kindly sponsored by Waltham Forest Cllr Shokat Ali and a prayer was said by Imam Muhammad Nadeem from Tooting.
