I joined Sophy Gardner, Labour’s candidate for Gloucester at the next General Election, in a visit to Little Meadows nursery which provides pre-school provision for children in the local community. I spoke to staff including Sharon Phillips, Group Manager and Jane Price on the potential effects of Michael Gove’s Plan to cut the number of staff per child in nurseries. These plans will not cut childcare costs for parents but they will undermine the quality of childcare. Ministers are refusing to listen to the views of parents, professionals and even their own experts on ratios.

Following the meeting at Little Meadows I joined local county council candidates to campaign in Tuffley ward with Labour’s candidate Tracey Millard.
