Meeting the Leader of Southwark Council, Cllr Peter John - 20/11

Today I met with the Leader of Southwark Council, Cllr Peter John. We discussed what steps the Council is taking to help improve cycle safety in Southwark following the death of a cyclist in Camberwell earlier this week. I fully support the Council’s proposal for a ‘safe cycling hour’ during the morning and evening rush hours without HGV’s on the roads, and I’ve called on the Mayor and London Councils to convene a summit on keeping London’s cyclists safe. I also raised the issue of leaseholder service charges and the possibility of leaseholders being able to carry out their own window replacements and other external building works.
