We should give the chance to stay for families who have worked hard here for years and paid their taxes.

Extend or reduce the roll of the private sector in our hospitals?

Carry on building up the NHS. Only use private clinics where the NHS can't cope. Keep NHS staff in the NHS. Their commitment is the health service's greatest asset.

What matters is not where you come from but what you do so that people's lives are changed for the better.

Yes. I would not have if I had known there were no weapons of mass destruction.

We are all running for deputy leader.

What can we do to prevent another 7/7?

Good security, integrating communities and fighting Islamaphobia.

Should affordable homes be Brown's first priority?

Yes. While house prices soar, people are struggling to buy or rent.

John Bercow – he's had the sense to marry a Labour woman.

Should Brown distance Britain from Bush?

We should agree with the US when they are right and disagree when they are wrong and always act in the best interests of Britain and peace and security in the world.

What have you done to make your house greener?

I've switched to a green electricity company, swapped to low energy light bulbs and we recycle.

Do you believe in compulsory ID cards?

There should be a national id register. But it should not be compulsory to carry the card and it should not cost too much.


How can we raise literacy and numeracy?

A good school in every neighbourhood. Good teachers and excellent heads. And parents having time to help their children with their school work

Should Britain spend billions on Trident II?

We'll have to keep it under review.

What level should the minimum wage be?

Higher. To help close the gap between rich and poor.

How do we stop knife and gun crime?

Pick up on the early signs when kids go wrong and step in then, before it is too late. A major new national programme of youth services.
