Prime Minister's Questions 23rd June 2010

Today in Prime Minister's Questions I asked the Prime Minister how much he had set aside for pensioners in the budget.

The answer is that the Government have not set aside a single penny for that big promise to pensioners. Next year prices are due to go up more than earnings, so bringing forward the earnings link for the basic state pension by a year does not give pensioners anything extra.

But although pensioners get nothing from that change we all know they will pay more in VAT. The Chancellor promised to provide help for pensioners.
