Rochester and Strood By Election Visit - 20/10/2014

Residents at Kelly House invited Naushabah Khan PPC for Rochester & Strood and myself to join them for their daily coffee morning. We discussed a range of issues affecting their lives and the biggest concern they had was the difficulty in accessing a GP appointment.

Appointments are available on a first come first serve basis as long as you can get through on the telephone and even then waiting times are lengthy when you get there. They also said surgeries are restricting appointments only allowing patients to report one health issue at a time. Residents reported back that this causes much unnecessary concern and anxiety.

Out on the doorstep I met local residents ahead of the by election which is on the 20th November. Concerns within the local community were cost of living, the NHS and immigration.
