On 15th November 2007 Harriet met with members of Southwark Credit Union to congratulate them as they celebrated their 25th Anniversary.
Southwark Credit Union is London’s oldest and largest “community bank”. Over the past 25 years it has fought poverty, over indebtedness and financial exclusion and is one of the leading credit unions in the country. It opened it doors to the entire community in 1999 and now serves over 7,000 members in the London Borough of Southwark. It takes a lead in the delivery of financial services to people on low incomes and who otherwise face financial exclusion
Harriet thanked individuals who have been members since the start and launched the publication “The Development of Southwark Credit Union 1982-2007”
