This morning I spoke at a conference organised by VSO and the Diaspora Volunteering Alliance to highlight the important role that diaspora communities play in international development. International development is not just done by government and it is important to recognise, support and shine a light on the role of the diaspora. I also underlined my commitment to ensuring that the Labour Party's policy process reflects the concerns and policy ideas of the diaspora community in the UK.
