This evening I attended Faraday branch Labour Party meeting and spoke with members and Cllr Abdul Mohamed.  We spoke about the impact the Government cuts are having on people and how Southwark's Labour Council are helping families with the squeeze on their living standards by providing free healthy school meals for all primary school children.  We also discussed public sector workers pensions and the Government's refusal to negotiate.  The Government's approach is not about the sustainability of public sector worker's pensions – it’s about paying down the deficit too far and too fast.  And it threatens the sustainability of the pension scheme as many will withdraw as the cost goes up.
