Last week I discussed the challenge of ensuring fair and decent work in Egypt after the Egyptian revolution at a conference in Cairo organised by the Center for American Progress.
The conference brought together delegates from Egypt, the US, the European Union and the UK , from Trade Unions, academia, civil society, business and politics to discuss strategies to address the high levels of unemployment in Egypt, to improve access to education and training and to support the economic empowerment of women.
After the announcement this week of a new package of aid for Egypt and Tunisia I called on international institutions including the G8 and World Bank to ensure that that their action reflects what the Egyptian people want and that their actions support the empowerment of women.
