Thanking clerks at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court and Posti

This morning after my regular advice surgery I visited Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court and spoke with the clerks who worked overtime to process cases related to the terrible riots in London earlier this week.

I thanked them for putting in extra hours so people charged with violence and vandalism on our streets were quickly brought to court.  It is really important that people who've been caught by police are prosecuted as quickly as possible and tough action in the courts is going to be very important.

I then went to Rye Lane along with the Leader of Southwark Council, Cllr Peter John, and Cllr Althea Smith.   I left a message on Peckham Shed's Peckham Peace Wall and I listened to the views of business owners and people in Peckham affected by the riots.

It's a relief that order has returned to the streets of Peckham but we're still far from returning to normality. People are still very frightened and worried about whether they are going to be able to carry on with their businesses.

If you need any help or assistance following the terrible riots please don't hesitate to call my helpline on 0207 219 4218 or email me [email protected]
