Visit to Brussels - 25/01/11

From the 25th - 26th January Harriet Harman, Labour's Deputy leader and Shadow International Development Secretary will be visiting Brussels. Her visit will include meetings with:

  • The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy - Baroness Catherine Ashton
  • Members of the European Parliament and of the European Parliament Development Committee
  • The European Union Commissioner for Development - Andris Piebalgs
  • The UK's permanent representative to the EU, Sir Kim Darroch

Harriet Harman will be setting out Labour's views on international development including on issues of women, climate change and trade and will be emphasising the Labour party's commitment to the target of spending 0.7% of Britain's GNI on aid by 2013.

She will be discussing how to work with other EU member states and through the European Union on these and other issues.
