On Thursday 26th March Harriet Harman MP presented Jesse Jackson with the 2009 Global Diversity Award. 

She said “We have seen your work, we share your values. We have seen your struggles, we have seen you never give up and you kept hope alive. We have seen your values triumph. You are the link in the human chain that links Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama. Barack Obama’s election was a triumph. It changed how people see themselves. It changed the way people see each other. It changed the way they see the US. It changed the way they see Africa and as he stood to take the presidential oath, we knew that he stood on your shoulders.”
