On Monday Harriet Harman and Rushanara Ali met with Michelle Bachelet, the head of the new UN Women’s Agency. They discussed the role UN Women will play in backing up women around the world and its five priorities of Tackling Violence against women,  increasing the role of women in peace talks and post- conflict reconstruction, promoting the political and economic empowerment of women and ensuring gender equality is a central part of national budgeting.
